The 5 Best Font Pairings for Premium Brands

With thousands of fonts available to choose from, how do you know which fonts are best for your premium brand? Selecting the best font pairings for your brand is a time-consuming task. It’s an important selection to make because your brand fonts help to convey your personality to your audience and you will be using the same brand fonts constantly to help build your brand awareness.

If, for example, you use unprofessional or childish fonts, your audience may think that your business is amateurish and not serious. When you offer high-end products or services, your brand image is extremely important. With carefully selected font pairings, you will gain credibility and trust from your clients.

If you have never studied typography and graphic design it can be challenging to choose the best font pairings for your premium brand.

To help make the process easier for you, I curated 5 of the best font pairings that would be a perfect fit for premium brands. They are both simple and elegant. You can use these selections either as a springboard for further inspiration or you may feel that one of these font pairings would work well for your high-end brand as is. Either way, it should help to save you some time. You can click on the links to download the fonts. Most of them are free Google fonts that are available for commercial use.

Q&A

Sometimes my clients, readers, and email subscribers ask for some advice about brand fonts and typography. I’ll share a few of the more commonly asked questions here.

Q. How often should I refresh my brand fonts to keep up with the latest trends?

How often you should refresh your fonts depends on what fonts you are currently using. If you are currently using trendy and modern fonts, it’s a good idea to have a brand designer re-evaluate your brand identity on a yearly basis to ensure that your font is still working well for you and generating the desired results.

I normally try to use brand fonts that are timeless and easy to read. With consistent use of your fonts, your audience will begin to associate that particular font with your brand. Trendy fonts tend to have shorter life cycles which could lead to more frequent font changes and confusion for your audience.

Q: Are there any good sites where I can find professional fonts?

Following are some great font sites that designers use:

TYPEWOLF

Whether you’re looking for the best font pairings or just some inspiration, this site has a lot to offer

CREATIVE MARKET

GOOGLE FONTS

ADOBE FONTS

Adobe is an online service that provides its subscribers with access to its extensive font library

FONT SQUIRREL

Q: How do I choose the best fonts for my brand?

Before you select your font, you need to know who you are trying to reach or attract.

Let’s say, for example, that you’re going to offer modern health and wellness coaching products and services to high-end clients. Before visiting the font sites, take a moment to step into your potential client’s shoes and think about which blogs or websites they would spend their time on? You may want to visit those blogs or websites that are related to your services. Following are two sites that would appeal to our ideal client in this example.

GOOP

Goop is a modern lifestyle brand

THE WELL

The Well offers health-related products and services

When you visit their sites, notice what type of fonts they use and how the type is arranged to generate a particular feeling (the arrangement and style of the type are also known as typography).

Once you get some inspiration from these other sites, you can start to look for a similar style font with your brand personality in mind.

Q: Can you give me some advice for choosing brand fonts?

For most of my clients, I suggest selecting 2-3 typefaces / fonts to serve as your brand fonts. One is typically a serif typeface and the other one ( or two ) is a sans-serif typeface. I normally use 2 different typefaces that have multiple font families ( italics, light, regular, bold, etc ).
