Unique Fonts for Your Brand Text Logo

Text logo with Roach Typeface

Did you know that 46% of the top brands use a text logo as a symbol for their business? If you’re reading this post, you are probably interested in creating a text logo for your business as well. A text logo is, as the name suggests, a logo that only uses text. Text logos are simple and easy to create, but the key to a successful brand text logo is to select the right font.

For this article, I will go over some of the advantages of using a text logo, and provide a list of simple and unique fonts that I curated for an effective brand text logo.

What is a text logo?

A text logo, also known as a word mark, is pretty straightforward. They are logos with the company's name incorporated in it. A text logo is a logo created with only text, as opposed to an image logo, which includes images.

What are the benefits of a text logo?

Memorable

One of the primary purposes of a logo is to make a quick and memorable first impression on your audience, and it is the reason why brand marks frequently include the company name. When a text logo is created with a unique font that accurately reflects your brand, it helps to communicate the name of your company to your audience in a memorable way.

Simple

Simplicity is an important characteristic of a successful logo design. Text logos are straightforward and easy for most people to understand. Rather than using a symbol (which frequently includes a message to be interpreted by the audience) the company's name is featured prominently. This helps your audience to remember the brand name and allows them to search for it anywhere in the world.

Timeless

Timeless logos are those that can be used for the long term. They are still effective despite the changes that your company may go through over time. This helps you to maintain brand consistency by avoiding the need to constantly update your logo. In addition, a timeless logo design will save you money in the long term.

Unique fonts for your brand logo

Choosing the right typeface is important for creating a logo that expresses your brand personality. When selecting a font, you should avoid using typefaces with thin weights. The problem with thin-weight typefaces is that when you scale them down, they are difficult to read. Trendy typefaces can also be problematic because once the trend is over, you will have to recreate your brand logo again. Keep in mind it’s not just the time and money you put in to design a new logo; it’s the time and money that goes into redoing all your marketing materials with the new brand text logo.

Here are some timeless, unique fonts that I curated for an effective and simple brand text logo design.

How to create a more distinctive brand text logo

Use colors

There is a whole spectrum of colors available for your logo, so don’t limit yourself to an all-black logo. You can use just one color or add an additional color to stand out more.

Use design

Applications today allow you to tinker with various font elements. Try playing with the spacing of each letter and the placement of the text (a one-line text logo or if your brand name is very long, try using two lines).

Add a tagline or the date when you established your company

To add a little interest to your text logo, you can add a short tagline or the year your company was established. For example, “established 2018” can be placed alongside your brand name to stand out more.

Conclusion:

I hope this blog post was helpful. Personally, I like a text logo because it’s simpler, timeless, and easy to remember (if your name is short). Your brand logo doesn’t have to be complex.
