Why it's important to keep your website fresh

How do you keep your website fresh? Here are a few ideas.

• Post a blog article regularly

Writing a blog is one of the best ways to increase your search engine rankings and keep your website fresh. Adding new content on a regular basis, even if it’s just once a week will make difference. If you are not sure what to talk about, think about your target audience and pick a subject that they would want to know about or may be searching for online.

• Add images and videos to your website

Adding images regularly on a gallery page of your products, works, or portfolio is a great way to add new content to your website and keep your site visitors returning to your website. Videos are another great way to add fresh content to your website. While search engines don't search photos and videos, you can add a description for each image and video. Search engines will index these descriptions counting it as new content. Also make sure to optimize the file name for each image, as the search engines will count that as well. What does it all mean? Instead of using an image as "IMG_3371.JPG",  it's important to use a relevant keyword name to help search engines find your site and increase your rankings.

For example, please see the image below. A file name can be a “maldives-luxury-resort-blue-ocean” to let users and search engines understand the image. It's better to use dashes/ hyphens " - " and not underscores " _ ". This helps search engines to be able to read the image names better. I will go deeper in this topic next time!

• Add new content and update content

Adding new content and updating your website with articles and downloads is a great way to keep your site fresh.  Search engines love new content. So, the more frequently you update your site, the more opportunities there are to increase your Google rankings.

• Add new testimonials to your website

Adding customer/client testimonials and reviews to your website is a great way to add fresh content. If you add positive feedback regularly to your website, you can gain trust from your prospects and have a chance to sell more products and services.

When your website is first launched, it’s just the starting point. It's up to you to grow your website. Think of your site as your baby. She’s just born and came into the world. She’s fresh, has your DNA, and doesn't know about anything. You have to teach her, pay attention to her every day, and give her lots of love to keep her alive and healthy. Yes,  you need to invest time and effort, but she can be your best salesperson who works for you around the clock – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
